RARE GERMS KILL CHILDREN
<1.30 p.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. Doctors have discovered that various types of salmonella germs have been responsible for the killing of children suffering from gastro enteritis. The death yesterday of a girl aged nine months brings the death roll from this disease in Brisbane to 60 in the past 14 months. Salmonella germs have been found in Australia in rats, sheep, poultry and cattle, but are rare in other parts of the world. Cne type of this germ taken from a patient in the children’s hospital has not been found before in Brisbane. Though the number of patients has decreased, the epidemic is still considered serious.
