Rotary Club Meets At Maungatapere
The Rotary Club of Whangarei held its weekly meeting in the Maungatapere Hall last night. This change of venue was in furtherance of one of the club’s aims of improving acquaintanceship between town and country. Over 40 farmers from Maungatapere and surrounding districts attended by invitation. The meeting was conducted on the same lines as a normal weekly luncheon gathering. MOVEMENT WELCOMED The speakers wore the president (Mr S. H. Phillips) and Mr H. C. Rishworth. They told their faz-mer guests of the origin of Rotary, its growth and its aims.
The supper was prepared by the Whatatiri Comforts Club, to which was donated for its Food for Britain fund the proceeds from the meeting, totalling £l2. t Thanks to the club for taking its meeting to Maungatapere and for its endeavours to improve relationships between town and country wez-e expressed by Mr K. M. Stevens.
