Whirlwind Strikes Cambridge Area

(Special.) CAMBRIDGE. This Day An employee on the farm of Mr W. H. Duigan, of the Roto-o-rangi district, near Cambridge, had a frightening experience when a sudden whirlwind similar to the Castor Bay tornado swept in a narrow path across the property. It swept away a new shed and also an older one. A sheet of iron from the new was found nearly a mile away.

A wagon was moved several chains and a concrete trough was lifted bodily and shifted 20ft.

It was fortunate that at the time the employee, Mr J. Jamieson, was not in the new shed. the walls of which he had been creosoting only a short time previously. The whirlwind, which appeared tc sweep down over a hill, narrowly missed the homestead and the cowshed.

It was preceded by a thundering roar and this was heard by residents all over the district.
