State To Purchase North Shore Buses?
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day.
T.he North Shore Transport Co. Ltd, which operates a large passenger bus fleet from the northern marine suburbs to the transharbour ferry term-' inals, is under offer of purchase to the Government.
This was stated this morning at the hearing of appeals by residents against increases in bus fares. The transport company announced that no opposition to the appeals was forthcoming because of the purchase offer.
The appeal authority (Sir Francis Frazer) accordingly granted the appeals in the interim, and the hearing ended abruptly. If for any reason the bus service is not taken over by the Government, the company reserves the right to renew its application for an increase in fares.
