SUBSIDY GRANTED ON WOOLLEN GOODS
• Special; WELLINGTON This Day. To meet the increased costs which woollen factories have had to pay for wool this year, a Government subsidy had been granted, announced the Minister in charge of Stabilisation las! night. The decision to grant the subsidy had followed an examination of the increased prices that the public might have been required to pay if the costs had been passed on. he said.
It would cost the Gmrrnment £ 300,000. Woollen manufacturing firms which had been withholding goods made from this season's wool while awaiting decision on their application for a price increase had now given instructions for these goods to be released to the retailers.
