DISTRICT QUOTATIONS

The North Auckland Farmers' Coop. Ltd reported a fair yarding, comprising mainly dairy cattle, at Towai. where realisations were: Best dairy heifers. £9/10/- to £ll/5/-; others, £O/15/- to £9: best cows, close to profit, £9/10/- to £l2/10/-; backward and inferior cgKvs. £B/15/- to £9: boner cows, £4/5/- to £E/2/G; light boners. £2/17/1 to £5/12/-. Competition was fairly keen for good quality stock at Hukerenui where the same firm offered a good yarding of dairy cattle.

Quotations were: July and Align'd calving cows, £if to £9/15/-: backward and inferior cows. £(> to £7/15/-; best heifers. £9 to £ll/10/-; small and infer ior heifers. £5/15/- to £f!/17/fi; boner COWS. £2/17/6 to £4/15/-.

A slight easing in competition for dairy cows and heifers was reported by the North Auckland Farmers’ Coop. Ltd at Kamo. This slackening was probably due to an oversttpply of cattle. Prime fat wethers made to £2/079, while heavy baconer pigs, for which the demand was firm, reached £O/15./- for topweights. Quotations were: Best cows. £B/15/- to £lO/5/-: backward and inferior cows. £0 to £B/2/6: choice dairy heifers. £ll/5/to £l2: medium quality heifers, £8 to £9/10/-: small, backward and inferior heifers. £6 to £7/15/-: fat cows, £9/15/to £i2; cows and calves. £9/10/- to £l2/15/-; store cows. £6 to £6/15/-: yearling Polled Angus steers. £5/12/-: yearling Polled Angus heifers. £5/4/ : prime fat wethers. £2/8/9; fat aged ewes. £ 1/12/-: woolly mixed sex hoggets, £l/6/6: heavy baconer pigs. £6/8/- to £6/12/-; medium baconors. £5/10/- to £6/1/-: heavy porkers. £4/15/- to £5/8/-: large stores. £2/12/- to £3/2/-: slips, £l/10/- to £l/17/-. Ltd. reporting on a sale at Maungakaramea where an average yarding was offered, quoted ns follows: Dairy rows, close up. £9/15/- lo £10; backward cows. £7/7/’- to £B/15/-; boner cows. £2/5/- to £4/10/-; full-mouthed ewes, r.w. Southdown ram. £l. At Waiotira the same firm offered an average warding of hoof, dairy and hotter cattle.

At Kamo the same firm offered a small yarding of cattle realisations being: Jersey heifers. £7/16/- to £B/5/-: Hereford cow? and calves. £8: boner cows. £4/7/6: mixed sex hoggets. £l/4/6. In addition to the usual fixtures. Alfred Bttckland and Sons Ltd and Walter Wakelin Ltd • conducted three clearing sales during the week.

At Utnkurn Mr R. A. Trigg's slock came forward in good condition, selling under strong competition to a representative bench of buyers. The top price for dairy cows was £2l/15/- and the herd averaged £l7/5/8. A good line of twoyear Jersey heifers sold to £l3/5/-. The best price at Mr W. Sharland’s sale at Okaihau was £ls for a good quality cow. Average quality two-year Jersey heifers sold to £ll.

Strong competition was reported at Mr J. P. Kempthorno’s sale at Whakaparn where the heifers, although small, met
