Seeks Compensation From Borough Council
Compensation because of a restriction was asked of the Whangarei Borough Council last night. Acting for Mr T. Rogers. Mr S. C. Thorne said the council had refused to grant a permit for the erection of .a dwelling with shop attached in the Keyte Street extension.
It appeared that the council had only a tentative zoning plan and if it had decided definitely that no permit would be granted, he asked what compensation it was prepared to pay to Mr Rogers because of the restriction and because he was anxious to proceed with his proposal. Cr W. L. McKinnon said that a shop would serve a large area. His motion that the question should be referred back to the town planning committee was adopted.
