All Blocks First Game Today

The All Blacks are playing the first match of the Australian tour against a Combined team at Canberra today. Members of the All Black team have not appreciated the fixed . prices for meals in Australia, says Mr E. W. Kami, in the Sydney Sun. This limits their meals to two or perhaps three courses, depending on what is ordered. Like state and Australian cricketers on tour in this country, they line! tlie hotel meals not sufficient to

satisfy the requirements of a healthy ithlete in training.

In New Zealand hotels meals provided are like those served before the war in Australia.

TREATMENT FOR ALLEN The All 'Black captain, Fred Allen, pulled a thigh muscle in training and may not play against the Combined team today.

He is having heat treatment at Canberra hospital. The injury is several days old. but did not manifest itself until yesterday afternoon.

Team members arc interested in a report that all attempts to obtain a sea passage home for the South African Soccer team have failed, and that a ship might not be available for six months.

The Australian Soccer Association is faced with costly choices, all of which would absorb the entire profit from the tour and leave the association in debt.

All Black team members say that transport to and from South Africa is the biggest hurdle in the way of the South African tour by the All Blacks, and that the tour is unlikely unless the New Zealand Rugby Union is assured of adequate transport each way.
