De Brinon To Die
'(Rec. 11 a.m.) PARIS, Mar. 7. The Court of Versailles sentenced to death Fernand de Brinon, a former Vichy Ambassador, for collaboration with the enemy. De Brinon, on hearing the sentence, cried out, “Posterity will judge.” De Brinon claimed he had not been allowed to prepare a proper defence, nad told the court, before sentence, that he lost his best friends in the First World War and tried to prevent the same happening again. The prosecution called de Brinon “an obvious traitor,” and produced testimony that he had enriched himself during the Nazi occupation.
