Mangapai
The annual meeting of the Mangapai Women’s Institute was held in the Mangapai hall. Mrs Byles presided. Several letters were received from England thanking the institute for parcels sent. The roll-call was “A joke.” Competitions resulted: Best bloom, Mrs Mackenzie 1, Mrs Mills 2; plum jam, Mrs Mills 1, Mrs Amiss 2. The points prizes for the year were both won by Mrs Amiss. Election of officers resulted: President, Mrs Carnarvon; vice-president, Mrs Amiss; treasurer, Mrs Harvey; secretary, Mrs W. A. Thomson; committee, Mesdames Carna ||/on, Finlayson, Cotton, A. Carter, P. S. Carter, Mills and F. Price. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Price and Grantham.
