Waipu
The monthly meeting of the Waipu Women’s Institute was held in the church hall, Mrs M. A. McLeod presiding over a fair attendance. An interesting demonstration on the making of handbags and shopping kits from string was given by Mrs Abercrombie. Mrs Moje gave a talk on nutrition and diet. During the afternoon Mrs J. C. McKay sang several songs. The monthly competition, “A bottle of fruit," resulted: Mrs Mac Finlayson I, Mrs Gordon 2, Mrs Wedding 3. The best bloom prize was won by Mrs Knight. A competition, “Flowers beginning with the letter C,” was won by Mrs Mac Finlayson. Members were reminded that Britain's need of food is still serious and parcels very welcome. The hostesses were Mrs D. McKenzie and Miss M. Sutherland.
