Manufacturing In Whangarei
In a step designed to make products manufactured in Whangarei better known throughout the Dominion, the Whangarei Chamber of Commerce has decided to set up a manufacturers’ section.
There was an absolute necessity for this, said Mr J. F. Johnson. In the town he had counted over 50 manufacturing concerns which would be interested in the proposal. Secondary industry would be fostered.
The committee set up to investigate is: Mr W. L. McKinnon (president). Messrs Johnson. T. Busck and J. Broadbent.
Other sub-committees appointed were: Commercial education. Messrs R. C Hosking and K. Haslett; industrial establishment, Messrs McKinnon, J. F. Johnson, T. Busck and Haslett; transport, Messrs P. Harris, J. Armitage, J. Broadbent and H. McKenzie; publicity, Messrs Johnson, J. R. McCorquindale, L. Cameron and Haslett; postal. Messrs Haslett, W. R. Vallance and E. G. Wood; membership. Messrs McKinnon. F. Nees, F. Uffindell, M. M. Baigent and H. M. May; social, Messrs Cameron, McKenzie and McCorquindnle.
