Mannequins Flew, Moscow Complains
(Rec. 11 a.m.) MOSCOW. Aug. 25. Commenting cn the refusal to grant an air passage from London for Soviet women delegates to the International Women's Conference, in Australia. Izvestia said: “The official reason for not granting the passage was too great a demand for seats by Government officials and businessmen. “It is now revealed that six French mannequins are flying to Sydney to show Australian women the latest Paris styles.” The French mannequins arrived in Sydney on Saturday. They will give Paris fashion parades, the proceeds from the sale of admission tickets to go to children's charities.
Izvestia added: “Dr Evatt liked talking about establishing a league of international rights. Was this an example how the rights would be applied to women ? ”
