NO NEW YEAR HONOURS FOR AUSTRALIANS
(Rec. 12.10.) CANBERRA, This Day.
In reply to criticism that there had been no Australian honours, Mr Chifley said the Commonwealth Government had decided not to award any New Year honours.
He personally agreed heartily with the collective Government decision. Army officers in Melbourne said that the 1946 honours list was the largest ever submitted.
