British Destroyer To Refit In Auckland

(Special.) AUCKLAND. This Day. The British destroyer H.M.S. Amethyst will visit Auckland in about a fortnight for refit. She is the tenth ship in the Royal Navy to have borne this name. The first Amethyst was launched in 1793. The present Amethyst's immediate predecessor was a trawler, which was sunk by a mine in 1940. The destroyer Barfieur, which has been refitting at Devonport, is expected to leave about the end of this month.
