Kaitaia Hospital Staff Shortage Very Serious

(Special.) KAITAIA.. This Day. So serious is the staff shortage at the Kaitaia Public Hospital that the Mangonui Hospital Board chairman (Mr J. W. Hoskin). the medical superintendent (Dr. W. R. McKechnie) and the board secretary (Mr W. H, Atkins), at a conference on Tuesday, agreed that a special meeting of the board should be held to consider action to be taken. Information before the three officers was that present staffing was insufficient to operate the hospital efficiently, and that the question might arise of having to' send patients elsewhere for treatment. It would be necessary to call upon the peoinle of the hospital district themselves to assist the hospital in obtaining girls. Every branch of the hospital was affected by the present shortage, which threatened to become worse in the near future.
