Power Position Easier

(Special) AUCKLAND, This Day. For the time being the worst is over, said Ihe general manager 7 of the Auckland Power Eoard (Mr. R. H. Bartley) this morning, referring to the general power supply situation. Mr. Bartley added that lake and river conditions at the source of supply at the moment were good, and he did not anticipate that there would be any acute power shortage until the beginning of next winter. The general future could not, however, be regarded with satisfaction, and the position was likely to be difficult again.' Recently the Electricity Controller pointed out that the Dominion had got through the winter with a minimum of inconvenience, but urged everybody not to relax in controlling the use of electricity. Every saving that could .be made would be needed at the commencement of next winter, and thereafter until additional plant could be brought into service. Mr. Bartley said electrical equipment and appliances for houses was still available in limited quantities.
