Mareretu, Kaiwaka People Seek Admission To Whangarei Hospital
(Special) PAPAROA, This Day. Desirability of ratepayers in his riding being admitted to the Whangarei District Hospital was raised at Wednesday's meeting of the Otamatea County Council by Mr. H. S. McCarroli (Mareretu).
It was only one third of the distance to Whangarei Hospital and they were agitating for their area to be included in the Whangarei Hospital Board’s area.
The chairman said it would require an act of Parliament for one riding to lie severed from a hospital board’s area.
Cr. R. D. Leslie (Kniwalcn) said 1 lie same feeling was prevalent in his riding. They had presented a unanimous petition to the authorities in connection with the matter, but had never made any headway. The chairman said that the only hope for the Mareretu people was for them to make some arrangement with the Kaipara and Whangarei Hospital Boards.
