Triangular Health Stamps Now On Issue
Philatelists throughout Now Zealand arc; now seeking the new triangular health stamps, which are on issue from today until tire end of February, 1944. In two denominations, l’/ad and 3d, the stamps are attractively printed by Bradbury Wilkinson and Co. Ltch, of Surrey, England, and were designed by a New Zealander, Mr F. J. Berry, of Wellington. Triangular in shape, the stamps are the first New Zealand has issued In this form and are unusual in that they are portrait stamps bearing a portrait other than that of the reigning sovereign. This is the first time New Zealand has departed from this method of portraiture in stamps. The lh>d denomination is coloured in green and depicts a portrait of Princess Margaret Rose, and the 3d is plumcoloured and bears a portrait of Princess Elizabeth. Triangular stamps have always been a rarity, Cape of Good Hope stamps of early issue selling at the present time for hundreds of pounds, but it is not likely that the present New Zealand health stamps will become scarce, as 3,000,000 have been printed.
