Final Issue Is Still In Doubt
—HOLLAND
The electors of New Zealand had spoken in no uncertain terms, said the Leader of the National Party (Mr S. G. Holland) in a broadcast address early on Sunday morning. At the outset of the campaign, National Party candidates had determined to make the contest a clean one, and they had received the support of the people. The final result was not yet certain, and at the moment he wished to avoid comment, continued Mr Holland. It was possible that Mr Fraser and he would have to discuss the position. He extended to the Prime Minister and his candidates the goodwill of the National Party
The welfare of the Dominion was of greater moment than that of a political party, Mr Holland concluded, stating that he proposed to make no more comment at that juncture. He thanked National Party branches and all who had worked for and supported the National Party candidates.
