Bryant’s View On Farm Land Tenure

(Special) HAMILTON. This Day. An explanation of his views concerning the tenure under which servicemen should be settled on the land has been made by Mr D. V. Bryant, founder of the Waikato Land Settlement Society. Mr Bryant said: “Apparently there has been an impression created in different parts of New Zealand indicating that I am desirous of putting tl! returned men on the freehold tenure, but white I myself think the freehold tenure is the best, this is one more reason why I think they should have the option. “What I do advocate is that returned men should have the option or choosing for themselves between ieasehulci and freehold. If legislation only provided for the freehold, as it does for the leasehold as far as Government lands and houses are concerned. then I should be in the same campaign for the sake of the men who wanted to select the leasehold. I believe there is no opposition to our request. We just want the men to choose for themselves, seeing that we have the two kinds of tenure in this country.”
