Boy Killed In Shafting
(Special) DARGAVTLLE. This Day. A shocking accident occurred on Monday on the larm of Mr. John J. Pivae at Furore, when a boy aged nine, 'Bruce Barrington Topia, of Mount Wesley, lost his life. It appears that Topia was giving a hand in the milking sited, doing light jobs. ALtcr milking was finished ho went to the separator house, and by some means his clothing became caught in the machinery. The boy was whirled round the shafting and suffered shocking injuries to liis head, death being instantaneous. Mr. Pivae‘s son. Mate, attempted to tree Topia, but failed. The hoy’s clothing had to be cut away to free the body. An inquest was opened before Mr. J. A. McLean, coroner, and adjourned sine die alter evidence of identification had been heard.
