New District Public Trustee At Whangarei
Replacing Mr. D. O’Donoghue. who has been transferred to Wanganui, as district public trustee at Whangarei, Mr. C. A. Hendry has arrived to take up his duties, and is at the Settlers’ Hotel. Mr. Hendry was educated in Canterbury public primary schools, Ashburton High School and Mastcrton District High School. Later lie graduated iLL.B.) at Victoria University College. Wellington. His early professional training was obtained with legal firms in Mastcrton. and in 1922 he was admitted as a barrister and solicitor. Ho first, joined the Public Trust Office in the head office in Wellington, in 1919. serving there lor two years before transferring to Mastcrton as senior estates clerk and legal clerk. He was.appointed district public trustee and district solicitor for Hastings in 1929. Mr. Hendry served for nearly four years in the First N.Z.E.F. in Gallipoli. Egypt and France, and was mentioned in despatches by Field-Marshal Sir Douglas Haig. In addition to serving at Hastings on numerous patriotic and other bodies, Mr. Hendry, at the time of leaving, was controller ol' the F.P.S. transport unit of Hastings apc I district, chairman of the Hastings national war savings committee, and member of the Hastings High School Board (as nominee of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board). He is a past president of the Hastings Rotary Club.
