Subversion Not Allowed In Election Campaign
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A clear indication that candidates at the forthcoming election will not be exempt from liability if they make subversive statements was given by the Prime Minister. replying to an urgent question bv Mr. R. M. MacFarlanc (Govt.. Chch. S.) when the House met yesterday afternoon. Mr. Fraser said that if a candidate made subversive statements lie would have to bear the consequences. He added that the question of order at candidates’ meelings was governed by the ordinary law of the land at the last election, and the same provisions would apply at this election. Facilities would be available at all polling places for voting by declaration.
