Whangarei Work In “Awake N.Z.” Campaign
Work being carried out bv the Whangaret branch of the “Awake New Zealand” campaign was outlined by the chairman of the executive committee (Mr. D. Ross) in response to a question at a meeting of the Whangarei Chamber of Commerce last evening. To permit the organisation to carry out its objective, work had been commenced in three or four directions, and publicity, finance, technical and research and scientific sub-committees had been appointed. said Mr. Ross. Since the public meeting called to form the Whangarei branch. Whangarei had become affiliated with the Dominion executive and steps had been taken to fulfil the great desire to supplement the equipment of the Home Guard. It had not been easy to get this work started, but progress was being made in this direction and certain forms of c-auipment shortly would be made available
Endeavours were being made to inculcate in the people the importance of paying urgent attention to the defence of the Dominion and to preserving morale.
