Last year’s champions, Combined Services, opened disastrously against Albion, and continued in a similar fashion. No batsman could reach double figures. Williams’ seven being the best contribution to a total of 22. Madden and Conway, bowling for Albion, did not give anyone time to settle down, and the wickets fell quickly. The innings was completed’ within an hour, and Albion went in to bat. Ferguson (27), Provan (19), Massey (12) and Madden (12) were the best scorers, and Albion's innings closed with 113 runs up. Combined Services went in again. Albion trying to force a three-point win. But this time the Combined Services put up a good showing. Hore. who scored 45, played some fine strokes all round the wicket, and his score included several nice boundaries. Clothier, who was run out at 21, was unlucky not to score more. Harris made a good 16, and time was up when five wickets were down for 102 runs.
