WEDDING

whittle—McConnell The wedding took place at Christ Church, Whangarei, on October 11, of Joan Myra, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. McConnell, Mangapai, and George, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. P. Whittle, Oakleigh. The Rev. M. L. A. Bull, of Paparoa, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Guinness, and Mr. Marsden Woods presided at the organ. In attendance as bridesmaids were the bride’s two sisters, Ruth and Ropa, who were in frocksftf forget-me-not blue and petal pink, mousselene over taffeta respectively. They wore topknots of flowers and carried bouquets of stocks and sweetpeas to tone. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Ray Price as best man. and by Mr. Lionel Ormandy as groomsman. A reception was later held at the Balmoral. In the evening the bride’s parents entertained between 200 and 300 people at a dance in the Mangapai hall. The music was supplied by Goodison’s Orchestra, and Mr, A. C, Hayward was M.C.
