N.Z. Will Continue In Empire Air Training Scheme
[Per Pr<=>ss Association—Copv'-ight.l CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The intention of the New Zealand Government to participate in the Empire Air Training Scheme until final victory was won was expressed by the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) yesterday. Mr Fraser was asked to comment on a cable message received a week ago from Ottawa reporting that the Canadian Minister for Air (Mr C. G. Power) had told the House of Commons that the training scheme would be continued for the duration of the war, although it was originally intended to end in 1943. Mr Power said he was unable to say whether New Zealand and Australia would participate after the original term expired. “Wonderfully Successful” “There is no thought whatever of New Zealand not continuing with the Empire Air Training Schemesaid Mr Fraser yesterday. “Definitely t New Zealand will continue as a partner in the scheme, as it has been so wonderfully successful” The Prime Minister added that he had personally had the opportunity of visiting a good many of the training stations in the Ontario, Quebec and 1 Montreal districts and he had been greatly impressed with them.
