Weight Limit On Gift Food For U.K.

fPer Press Association.—Copyright] WELLINGTON, This Day. In order to conserve shipping space for more urgent supplies, regulations covering the admission of gifts of food into the United Kingdom have been revised by the British Ministry for Food as announced last week, and affect all parcels of food despatched after June 28. A copy of the Ministry’s statement has been received by the acting Prime Minister (Mr. Nash), through the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand (Sir Harry Batterbee). The statement says bona fide unsolicited gifts, whether they include rationed foods or not, may be received by parcel post addressed to individuals. No parcel may exceed 51bs gross weight or contain more than 21bs of any one foodstuff. The maximum of 51bs will also be applied by the Board of Trade in the case of non-foodstuffs. No permit or license is required in such cases, and all parcels must be clearly marked as gifts.
