Ruatangata

The May meeting of the Ruatangata Institute was held in the hall. Mrs. Hodge presided over a fair attendance. One visitor was present. The roll call “My Favourite Motto” was well responded to. A competition arranged by Miss L. Hodge was won by Mrs. Hodge, and another, for the prettiest cake plate, was won by Mrs Birdling. Miss L. Hodges gave the golden thread. A presentation was made to Mrs. Cossill, president, for her services during the previous three years. A demonstration for a quick way to re-foot a sock was given by Mrs. Hodge. Members brought along patchwork squares for the quilt the institute iS making. Afternoon tea brought a pleasant afternoon to a close. Hostesses were Mesdames Yates and Birdling.
