The Iraqi Legation in Cairo confirms that there has been a counter revolt in Iraq by tribesmen supporting the deposed Regent (Emir Abdul Illah). Arab circles say Abdul Illah has gone to Bagdad, leaving the former Prime Minister (General Janile elMadfai) to act for him at Basra. General Nuri es-Saied is representing him in another part of Iraq.

It is reported from Ankara that General Nuri es-Saied, who has been spending his exile with Emir Abdullah, of Transjordan, is going to Iraq under the escort of a cavalry detachment of Transjordan frontier troops. Rashid Ali’s Government is reliably reported to have panicked because it discovered that British agents had made contact with some of Rashid Ali’s most trusted political and military chiefs. This, with Rashid Ali’s failure to get German or Saudi-Ara-bian support, is believed to have wrecked the morale of Rashid Ali’s Government.
