The possibility of producers again handling the marketing and distribution of that part of their production sold on the local market was referred to by the chairman of the Northland Dairy Association (Mr E. G. Appleton) today.

Reporting to the 28th annual conference, in Whangarei, he stated that earnest consideration had been given to the question by the executive, and the objective was to obtain from the authorities permission to form and operate a limited company. The capital of the proposed company was to be found by the dairy companies, and the company, when formed, was to control the [distribution of butter throughout the Auckland Province. It was believed that by economy in selling and distribution costs, a con- j siderable sum could be saved for thej producers. This could, at the closing! of accounts each ypar, be returned to them. The principle would be that of a pool, and such a scheme, if carried into effect, would to some extent restore to the producer a portion of his lost rights. Negotiations had been in train to j obtain Government approval of the; plan, but difficulties with the Internal Marketing Department which had arisen, it was hoped might yet be overcome.' .
