Low Countries Still Alert
(Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, May 9. The low countries remain on the alert. The Dutch Commander-in-Chief has banned outdoor meetings of over 500 people without a permit, in the provinces of Overyssel, Gelderland, North Brabant, Limburg and Utrecht. Police arrested the ex-cliairman ef the German Chamber of Commerce for the Netherlands on suspicion of espionage. His chauffeur was arrested a few days ago. The Belgian Senate will meet secretly on May 16 after a group of senators demanded to hear what was being done regarding Germans living in Belgium. A decree bans three German language publications as “exercising undesirable influence on the army and civilian morale.” It is also announed that bargees and seamen of all nationalities entering Belgium after next Wednesday must have visas.
