Want £3OO Subsidy For Kohinui Stream Bridge

As part of the reconstruction of the Whangarei Heads Road, the. Public Works Department is considering the erection of a new bridge over the Kohinui Stream at Parua Bay. The estimated cost of the bridge is £9OO, while the. County Council had offered to find £IOO of this.

This subsidy by the council is considered insufficient by the department and this was stated in a letter received by the council at its meeting today wherein the department suggested that the council should contribute < £3OO, which would be the normal sub-; sidy on bridge renewals. The letter also stated that materials; were available and the work could be] put in hand immediately a settlements could be made with the council. j Riding Member Explains ] Member for the riding concerned, \ Mr A, Clarke, said the position arose] from the construction of a deviation i by the Public Works Departments without the council being consulted.)
