Thanks From Prime Minister. Sincerest thanks for the message of congratulations on behalf of the people of the Whangarei County upon his appointment as Prime Minister, was expressed by the Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) in a letter to the county chairman (Mr J. A. S. McKay) This was read at the County Council meeting today.
Reticulation Costs. Pointing out that the Bay of Islands Electric-Power Board was reticulating sparsely populated areas at less cost than the North Auckland ElectricPower Board, Mr J. N. McCarroll asked the engineer of the North Auckland Board (Mr T. R. Overton) at the monthly meeting in Dargaville yesterday, for a, report on the question The board agreed to the engineer submitting a report to the next meeting.
Long Power Board Sitting. With the annual meeting preceding the usual monthly meeting, the North Auckland Electric-Power Board’s sitting in Dargaville yesterday was unusually long, business not being concluded until after 3 p.m. Usually the meeting concludes before lunch, but yesterday three lengthy annual reports, consideration in committee of a special report on the reduction ot lighting charges, and the election of a chairman, as well as the ordinary volume of business, made resumption after the interval necessary.
