40 More Sign Up At Auckland
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day. Over the week-end 40 men signed up for service with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. This list, issued today from the Rutland Stre'et Drill Hall, reflects steady recruiting in Auckland, and, compared with figures from other centres, the city’s totals have been consistently high. ADD POVERTY BAY RACES Trial Handicap, of 75sovs.; six furlongs.— (1) Jungle King, 8.7. 1; (2) Kincarole, 7.13, 2; (1) Hunting Dawn, 7.13, 3. Scratched: Rivertide, No Wonder, Ririwai, Raporinga. The first and third horses were bracketed. Two and a half lengths; two lengths. Time, 1.15 3-5.
