Centennial Dance At Town Hall
The large crowd which attended the j Centennial dance in the Town Hall last J Saturday evening, enjoyed excellent entertainment to the music of Ces Wright’s band. Special attention was paid to novelty numbers and there were repeated demands for the more popular of the dance hits. Among those present were Mesdames Ces Wright, black skirt, gold blouse; R. Massey, green satin, gold trimmings; P. S. McLean, blue taffeta; L. Woolhouse, lemon silk; J. Rice, blue georgette; R. Wroblenski, green satin; C, McLean, clover chiffon, white cape; B. Farrell, flowered georgette and lace trimmings; and Misses Ollie Bishell, mauve taffeta, white fur coatee; Grace King, green lace over taffeta; Thelma Teesdale, clover taffeta; Phyllis Bishell, suntop and skirt; L. Taylor, gold lame, white ermine; Betty Clark, black and white georgette; Jean Taylor, pink lace over satin, black trimmings; J. Gimblett, -black georgette, white fur coatee; F. M. Bi’sset, green taffeta; June McLean, pink taffeta, gold coatee; Doreen Kimble, flowered crepe de chine; Evone Beehre, red satin; Josephine Taylor, white taffeta, red trimmings; E. Yearbury, black velvet, gold trimmings; Peggy Wrack, blue georgette, with silver trimmings; Jean West, flowered crepe; N. Irder, green and white organdie; V. Umawera The usual meeting for November ; was opened with community singing. , The roll-call was “Suggestions for rollcall.” The arts and crafts competition r resulted: Mrs Smith 1, Mrs Lees 2, ; Mrs Brown and Mrs Joyce 3. i A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Downs for her report of the North • Hoki'anga Federation Council meeting, i also to Mrs Oliver for her good work • as secretary. The hostesses were Miss K. Harrii son, Mrs Lees and Mrs Joyce.
