Schoolboys Keep Flag Flying

Recalling some of the exp l oits of the boys of fifty years ago, Mr O. Fisher, when speaking at the Jubilee of the Fairburn School, said there was a tall kahikatea tree near the school to the top of which a flag was attached by one of the schoolboys after an exhausting and perilous climb. The flag was little more than an old rag, but it seemed to be a point of honour with the boys that it should always be seen at the tree-top, and if by any chance it was carried away, it was quickly replaced by one of the boys, who would climb the tree as often as the necessity arose.
