There were several other good bowling feats, four men accounting for six wickets in an innings. They were: James Langridge (Sussex), L. J. Todd (Kent), A. W. Wellard (Somerset), H, Verity (Yorkshire).

There was some big scoring, Lancashire declaring at five wickets for 493 runs against Worcestershire, while Yorkshire ran up 502 runs for four wickets against Northants.

The outstanding batsman was J. Iddon, who topped the double century for the Lancastrians at Old Trafford,. where N. Oldfield (who was in New Zealand last summer) compiled another hundred.

In a low-scoring match at Derby the home county beat the strong Middlesex team by six wickets.
