A Moscow broadcast yesterday stated that 2000 Japanese had been killed and 3500 wounded in fighting west of the Khalkhagol River, involving artillery, tanks, aircraft and infantry, .since July 6.

Casualties admitted by the Soviet were 293 killed and 633 wounded. The broadcast reported that simultaneously there were fierce, air battles at Lake Buir, the Russians claiming victory in every one, resulting in 61 Japanese aeroplanes being brought down and 12 Japanese airmen captured. Their names were given in the broadcast, which added that between May 28 and July 12, 199 Japanese machines had been shot down. The Soviet losses were given as 52.
