Kaikohe W.D.F.U. Holds Annual Meeting
Mrs Orr presided over 11 members at the annual meeting of the Kaikohe W.D.F.U. held in the Masonic Hall on Thursday. Apologies were received from members being unable to attend.
The afternoon was opened with the reading of the creed. The president, Mrs Orr, read her annual report giving a resume of the year’s work.
A letter inviting the division to join the Pan Pacific Association was read-, and it was moved and seconded that the division would join. Another letter was road from “Health,” an organisation promoting the value of pure food. : The division passed a vote of sympathy to Mrs Slaticr. who is at present in a private hospital.
j The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs Schcpens; treasurer, Mrs Rios; vice-presidents, Mesdames Orr and Slattor: secretary, Mrs Grayham; committee. Mesdames Schepens, J. Orr. Slatter, Greenbury, Ries, Henley and Bower; provincial delegate. Mrs J. Orr.
The quilt 'made by the members of the division was given to Mrs Grayham, the secretary, for her splendid work and the interesting meetings hold throughout the year. The competition for the day, “the best plate of biscuits,” was won by Mrs Bower, with Mrs Riese second and Mrs Bell third.
The roll call, “suggestions for the Centennial,’' was well responded to. The winner of the yearly points prize was Mrs Bower, with 16 points, Mrs Rics coming second with 15. They were both presented with small tokens.
The afternoon came to a close and the ladies adjourned to the Presbyterian Hall where they enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea at the Presbyterian fete. At the fete were stalls of produce, handiwork, small goods, and an afternoon tea stall. For the children there was a lucky dip which attracted not only the children, but quite a few elders.
