Farmers’ Pressure On Government
[Per Press Association. Copyright .] TIMARU, This Day. A mass demonstration by South Canterbury farmers “to illustrate the serious plight of the financial position of the farming industry, with a view to enlisting the sympathy of the Government and other sections of the community in the efforts of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union to gain the same treatment for primary industries as for other industries,” will be held in Ti'maru during April. A decision to this effect was made at a meeting of the South Canterbury Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union at Timaru yesterday. The Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, will be invited to attend, and the speakers will probably include the Dominion president of the Farmers’ Union, Mr W. W. Mulholland.
