Rollinson-Beazley

A pretty wedding of widespread interest was celebrated in All Saints Church, Rawene, on Wednesday, March 8, when Elsie Merle, eldest daughter of Mr. J. Beazley and the late Mrs. Beazley, was married to James Alexander, elder son of Mrs. E. E. Rollinson, and the late Mr. J. Rollinson, of Hamilton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Cable and the duties of organist were carried out by ‘ Mrs. Minchin.

The bride, who was given away by her father, chose a gown of ivory cire d’or with a slim-fitting high waistline which fell as a train at the back. The bodice was gathered into a pointed waistline in front and the sleeves were long and fitting. The gown was trimmed at the back from neck to waist with crystal buttons. An ivory silk tulle veil was caught with ivory blossoms and leaves, and the bride carried a bouquet of white roses. Her bridesmaid and sister, Miss Elva Beazley, appeared in a charming frock of fuchsia-coloured georgette with a plainted sash in shades of petunia and blue. She wore a hat of stiffened net in the same shades with trimmings to tone with the sash, and she carried a sheaf of silver leaves. Mr. W. Holland, of Kohukohu, attended the bridegroom as best man. At the conclusion of the ceremony a reception was held at Ferguson’s Private Hotel, where the grandmother of the bride, Mrs. Ferguson, received her guests wearing a black satin beaute frock trimmed with a faggotted edge collar and vest i nold rose with a veiled hat to tone. She carried a posy of small cactus dahlias and asters. The mother of the bridegroom wore a floral uncrushable crepe frock in autumn tones with a brown hat. The bride left wearing an ensemble of mustard coloured woollen material with smart navy accessories.
