Hitler Addresses Greater German Reichstag

(Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, January 30. TTERR HITLER ADDRESSED THE GREATER GERMAN REICHSTAG THIS EVENING AT THE KROLL OPERA HOUSE, BERLIN. The speech marked the sixth anniversary of his accession -to power. It was broadcast throughout Germany and relayed all over the world. Loud-speakers had been installed every few yards in the city area. To-day was a day of celebration in Germany, starting with band displays, and demonstration marches in all cities and towns.. The blare of Nazi brass bands and the shrilling of fifes playing patriotic airs in v be beflagged streets awakened citizens at 6. a.m. today, the sikth anniversary of Nazi accession to pow er, which, 1 in the official programme, i in accordance with the custom of naming each anniversary as a milestone Si in Nazi history, is designated “the day of tire great awakening,” in commemoration of ,the absorption of Austria and Sudetenland.

Goering’s Tribute,

Field-Marshal Goering, in the course of a statement, said: “The six years i since Herr Hitter took the leadership in his strong hands weigh more heavily in German history than centuries. Germany in 1933 was enchained by the Versailles Treaty, and was not even sovereign in her own territory. The Greater German Reich now arises in the world most firmly knit into one block of steel. Her 80,000,000 are now free, and, her armed forces watch over their independence.” Dr. Goebbels, in ,a broadcast to the children of Germany, said: “We can scarcely think today what would have happened to Germafny without the Fuehrer and the Nazis, who, some say, accomplished miracles; but those who have achieved the rejuvenation of Germany know it was the revolt of youth against parliamentarianism and i party strikes which secured the result’.’ I
