Second-Wicket Stand

Hawke’s Bay passed 30 after an hour. In his last over before lunch Lyon dismissed Johnson with a fast ball. Johnson and Evans had made 69 in the second-wicket partnership.

Lissqtte went on after lunch and for a time confined the Hawke’s Bay batsmen to singles. The century was reached after 139 minutes. Lissefte used his slow attack to advantage and got Thomas off the sixth ball of his third over. He then skittled Evans, Beuth fell a victim to a well-pitched ball from Lyons. Just before stumps Waikato had lost five wickets for 110 (Bright 26, Aitken 23 not out). Scores:— HAWKE’S BAY.
