Services Rally To Beat Portland
Services sprung another surprise by their defeat of Portland. Portland batted first and the first over was disastrous, as T. Wallbank, the star bat, fell to Webb’s first ball, his first “duck” of the season. The rest of the team were soon in difficulties, and the last man failed to see the 60 up. Service’s fielding and bowling was well up to standard, and Portland’s batsmen found runs hard to get. Services started confidently, but again the bowlers took control. Webb was out to the fourth ball of the over, and“ Services found that runs were equally hard to get. However, smart running between wickets saw the score mounting steadily, and time found Services in front. Portland.— I T. Wallbank, b Webb, 0; C. Wallbank, c and b Atkins, 15; C.
