Kaitaia’s Many Week-End Attractions
With a. long week-end ahead, every branch of sport in Kaitaia will be well * catered for. .
-The; bowling club will be staging a progressive pairs tournament over two days. Good entries have been received and, with the greens in their present'condition, an* interesting competition is expected. The club'is sending teams to outside competitions, three participating in the Anniversary “Day competition at Whangarei and three at Kawakawa. Play in the tennis competition will be advanced a further stage. Kaitaia J 3 meet Herekino, Takahue A play Awanui, while the Valley will meet Kaitaia A. In the Saturday cricket, Kaitaia B -play Victoria Valley, and on Sunday the teams to play are Kaitaia v. Peria and Mangataiore v. Awanui. In addition to the ordinary competitions, a representative team will travel to Kohukohu over the week-end to play Hokianga, *; The rifle club will be staging a special shoot when visitors from five outside clubs from as far south as Auckland will be present. Tire annual athletic meeting at Awanui on Saturday will draw a good following. An attractive and entertaining programme has been arranged.
