Soldiers Guard Huge Munition Factory
(Received 3 p.m.) LONDON, January 25. Three hundred soldiers travelled secretly during the night of January 24, to guard the Government’s new £10,000,000 munitions ' factory in Lancashire. It is officially admitted they were sent because of the fear of bombings. The factory is nearing completion land is in partial production. Five thousand men have been employed on the construction of the factory day and night for two years. The site covers 900 acres, and involved the laying of 40, miles of drains, 15 miles of concrete roads, and 15 miles of railways. The Berlin correspondent of the “News Chronicle” asks: “Is Germany preparing for inflation?” He says that after Dr. Schacht’s resignation the Reichbank printed currency notes at £330,000,000 without backing, the purpose of which is uncertain,.
