25 Heads Played In N.Z. Bowling Champs.

The championship tournament of the New Zealand Bowling Association was continued yesterday.

A start was made with the section play in the fours event. The' games were of 25 heads, and this fact allowed any team or teams which made a bad start a good chance of recovery.-

One of the early surprises was the heaVy defeat of Harrison’s Australian team, which was expected to do better as the had become more used to local 'conditions.

M. Whitelaw, of Whangarei, had a disastrous day, two losses going his way.

Section play in the rinks competition will be continued today, and on Monday and Tuesday, two rounds being played each day. A slight sprinkling of rain was experienced yesterday but play was not held up at any stage on this account. Gilmour (Carlton), who took J. P. Mason’s place at the end of the team, bad two wins yesterday. He is an ex Christchurch player who joined Carlton this season.-

Martin (Ellerslie) continued. bis winning way yesterday and had two wins. The Ellerslie skip is the model of consistency. Results Section R, at Onehunga.
