Davis, of the Canadian Supreme Court, reported to the House of Commons to-day that there was no evidence of corruption in con- , nection with the Bren Gun contract placed by the Canadian and British Governments Jointly with Johh Inglis and Company. Colonel George Drew, the Ontario Conservative leader, in a magazine article, charged.that the contracts had Hahn, through the connivance ,of Mr Hugh Plaxton, a Toronto member of the House of Commons, with the Defence Minister' Mr lan . Mackenzie, the , Deputy-Minister, General J. E. la Pleche, and other departmental officials, and that Canada stood to lose heavily by the contract. The Government ordered an immediate inquiry. The Commissioner declares the contract was justified and in the . best interests of Canada, and urges the. creation of a board of free business- > men to control all. purchases for the Defence Department.
